Seven people were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint conducted by Anderson Police Friday night, but not for drunk driving. 382 drivers encountered the checkpoint on Highway 273 at Breckenridge Lane. The APD was assisted by Redding Police, who arrested 60-year-old John Frank Ables of Napa for driving on a suspended license and being a felon with a gun. Six others were also arrested for driving on suspended licenses. Four field sobriety tests were given but no DUI arrests were made.
