Expect More Smoke Thursday As Crews Continue Prescribed Burn Project In South Redding

The large controlled burn being done in South Redding will continue Thursday. During Wednesday’s phase, there was a slop-over outside the planned burn area late in the afternoon that grew to about 20 acres before it was contained by resources on scene and additional air support that was called in. On Wednesday Cal-Fire said about 250 acres had been burned and the plan calls for another 400 acres to be burned Thursday. The vegetation management project is being done on the McConnell Foundation’s Gore Ranch Property, located west of the Westwood Village Subdivision off Highway 273 and north of Clear Creek Road.
