Redding Fire Crews Extinguish Quarter Acre Fire Off Cascade Boulevard

Redding Fire Department had to use water tenders to put out a fire off Cascade Boulevard Saturday night because of a lack of hydrants or other water supply in the area. Crews were dispatched a little before 11PM to the wooded area off of Cascade and Oasis, and were able to access the fire via Witch Way. The site was difficult to reach because of the rough terrain and the narrow dirt roads were jammed up with homeless camps. It took about 6-and-a-half hours to completely extinguish the fire and contain it to about a quarter acre. The cause remains under investigation.
