Tehama County Deputies Will No Longer Respond To Animal Calls Due To Staffing Shortages

There’s no dog catcher in Tehama County, so nobody is catching the dogs. Starting last Thursday the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office said they would stop responding to calls for barking dogs, animal surrenders, kennel inspections and animals at large unless there’s an immediate threat to public safety. A statement says the department has an unforeseen shortage of animal regulation officers. The position is open to qualified applicants, who are encouraged to apply.
