1 Person Cited During Shoulder Tap Operation In Anderson

Anderson Police Department has gotten a $47,000 grant from State Alcoholic Beverage Control, and on Wednesday they tapped it to use a minor decoy in an alcohol shoulder tap operation. That involves having an underage person approach customers on their way in to stores and ask them to make a purchase, making clear to the target that it’s because of their age. During the sting operation, the APD visited various stores, and 14 customers were approached. Only one person agreed to make the buy. Redding Police had just done the same type of operation the previous day. The penalty is a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
