$3.5 Million Grant Will Held Fund Major Overhaul Of South City Park

There are big plans for Redding’s South City Park, and grant funding will bring those plans closer to reality. The U.S. Department of the Interior, through the Parks Service and California State Parks, has awarded a grant of $3.5 Million, to be combined with matching city funds for a budget of $7 Million. The overhaul will include a playground, a water feature, an entry and activities plaza, a flexible greenspace, Pickleball courts, a skate plaza, a basketball court, a youth area, a walking loop, updated lighting and landscaping, a dog area, new restrooms, and improvements to the youth baseball field and Bocce Ball courts. To help ongoing efforts to reach the budget goal the Redding Parks and Trails Foundation will hold its annual “Vine and Dine for Parks” fundraiser at City Hall on May 9th from 5:30 to 8PM. Tickets are at reddingparksfoundation.org.
