3 Arrested For Felony Animal Abuse After 4 Puppies Are Found Shot To Death

Three people have been arrested after the discovery of four puppies who had been shot to death. The 5-month-old German Shepherd pups were found on October 3rd where they had been discarded along Old Oregon Trail south of Highway 44 at Enterprise Dump Road. Shasta County Animal Regulation Officers followed leads based on recent encounters with some people in the area. The puppies had apparently come from a property in the 8000 block of Airport Road belonging to James Wolf and Teresa Crandell. They reportedly said the puppies belonged to a tenant who had recently been jailed and, since they didn’t want to care for them, they asked a neighbor to kill them. Deputies say 24-year-old Kenneth Beaulieu admitted that he shot the puppies and said they had been dumped along the roadside by Wolf and Crandell. On Friday all three were booked into jail on felony charges. Only Beaulieu remains in custody, on $25,000 bail
