Three seasoned veterans of the Redding Fire Department have announced their retirement. Deputy Chief Eric McMurtrey, Fire Marshal Patrick O’Connor and Battalion Chief Shawn Plummer all spent their careers as firefighters serving the people of Redding and bravely putting their lives on the line time and again as they rose through the ranks. McMurtrey spent over 33 years with the Redding Fire Department, and collectively the three of them dedicated 75 years of their lives to the department.
