3rd Woman Struck By Train Within Two Week In Red Bluff

Red Bluff has seen its third train versus female pedestrian encounter within two weeks. This time the victim survived. At around 5 O’clock Tuesday afternoon a 43-year-old woman and another person were walking northbound across the South Main Street railroad overpass when a southbound train approached. The woman’s companion was able to clear the overpass before the train got there. The victim tried to get to the edge of the overpass and avoid contact, but the left side of her body was struck by the locomotive. The other person helped her to a safe place off the tracks until medical help arrived and she was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital with severe but non-life threatening injuries. On May 23rd, 36-year-old Kelly Fontan was struck and killed by a train in the area of South Main Street and Montgomery Road. Another as-yet-unidentified woman was struck by a train last Wednesday night behind the Raley’s Supermarket in Red Bluff.
