4 Businesses Cited During Minor Tobacco Sting

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and Health and Human Services have done another sting operation targeting businesses to be sure they don’t sell tobacco to underage customers, and this time it was mostly Lakehead retailers that didn’t do well. The legal age to buy tobacco products in California is 21. A decoy younger than 21 tried to make purchases at 13 different Shasta County stores, and four failed the test. A Palo Cedro business, Kay Bee Gas and Liquor, was cited. The other three were all in Lakehead: Trail In RV Park, Sugarloaf Resort and Antlers Food and Fuel. The operation was funded by a state grant, and the sheriff’s office says there will be more stings in the future.
