4th Strike Conviction Sends Man To Prison For 26-Years-To-Life

A man has been sentenced to 26-years-to-life in prison after a Shasta County jury convicted him for assaulting a man in Redding. On July 27th of last year a 60-year-old man was sitting in his parked car with a friend when 43-year-old Ismael Hernandez Porras approached and demanded help. When the victim turned him down, Porras pulled out a knife and started screaming and cursing and threatening to kill him. The man got out of the car and ran away with Porras chasing him and pointing the knife at him. Porras already had three prior strikes and was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.
