5 Killed After Car Crosses Over Into Oncoming Lanes In Corning

Five people died in a crash on Interstate Five just south of Liberal Avenue in Corning Saturday afternoon. At 12:45PM, a 2003 Infiniti was northbound when, for reasons unknown, it plowed across the center divider and collided head-on with a southbound 2016 Dodge Ram pickup towing a 5th wheel travel trailer. None of the four occupants of the Infiniti were seatbelted and all of them were ejected and killed. They were 2 men, aged 46 and 47, a 36-year-old woman and an 8-year-old girl. The 52-year-old man driving the pickup also died. His 48-year-old female passenger was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries. They’re both from the Santa Clara County Town of Morgan Hill. The northbound side of the freeway reopened around 4 O’clock, but the southbound side was closed for an extended time, with traffic diverted onto county roads.
