The 83th annual Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale is this week at the Tehama District Fairgrounds in Red Bluff. It’s the largest sale of bulls, horses and livestock dogs west of the Rockies, with sales last year totaling over $2.5 Million. One champion Hereford bull sold for $25,000. Two geldings were auctioned for $50,000 each. Two years ago a single livestock dog brought a price of $45,000. Sifting and grading begins Tuesday as judges and veterinarians make sure only top quality animals get to the sales ring. Friday and Saturday the big auction takes place. Saturday night is the Red Bluff Bucking Battle, followed by a dance party. Anything with a western theme is being sold at the event, from handmade saddles and jewelry to furniture and livestock trailers. There’s also a western art show and auction. Tickets and more details are at redbluffbullsale.com.
