Benton Field, the City of Redding’s “other” airport that sits atop a ridge off Placer Street on the west side of town, may soon have a new operator. Since the sudden departure of the previous operator a year ago, the airpark has been without services such as fuel, food, maintenance, repairs, navigation equipment, flight training and other amenities. The current operator at Red Bluff Municipal Airport, Cardan Aircraft Services, has expressed interest and the Redding City Council will discuss a 10 year lease arrangement during their meeting on Tuesday.
