Annual Shasta County Spelling Be Is Next Week At Sequoia Middle School

Shasta County Schools will hold their annual spelling bee next week. There are 48 elementary school students and 28 middle school students competing, with the top two in each bee advancing to the state spelling bee next month. In 2022 and 2023, a Shasta County student went on to win the state competition. In 2023 6th Grader Tristan Friesan of Shasta View Academy successfully spelled the word “culottes” to win the state championship trophy. The elementary bee is Monday and the middle school bee is Tuesday. They’re both in McLaughlin Auditorium at Sequoia Middle School in Redding.
