A man from Oregon was arrested in Northwest Anderson over the weekend after more than 10 reports were received about shots fired. Shortly before One O’clock Saturday morning Anderson Police responded to the area of Briggs and Church Streets. They used a drone to try and locate the source of the gunshots until someone told them that a man was hiding in the bed of a pickup truck near First Street and Fairgrounds Drive. Officers spoke to the man from a distance, but he refused to get out of the truck and repeatedly told the officers to shoot him. He also said he was armed with an assault rifle. He pointed the gun at the police drone several times, and pointed it at his own head as well. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to assist, as well as Redding Police with their armored vehicle. APD Officers eventually convinced the gunman to put down the rifle and surrender. 29-year-old Tory Gage Smith was booked into jail on several charges, with bail set at $50,000.
