APD Arrests Two Men For Stealing Gasoline From Anderson Charter School

A malfunctioning trunk latch led to the arrest of a couple of suspected gas thieves in Anderson. A little before 3AM Monday Anderson Police noticed a car with two occupants quickly leaving the Northern Summit Academy Charter School on Balls Ferry Road. With the police following them, the car hit a bump and the trunk popped open, allowing officers to see a gas can inside. On a hunch that the two had been siphoning gas at the school, other officers checked and found a school van with a hose sticking out from the fuel filler hole and running into an overflowing gas can, with several gallons spilled onto the ground. 44-year-old Jason Parker of Shasta Lake City and 51-year-old Travis Brown of Anderson were arrested and the car was impounded.
