A Cottonwood man has been arrested for firing a gun in Anderson. Last Sunday Anderson Police responded to reports of a shirtless barefoot man with a rifle on his back walking along South Barney Road near Locust Street. Officers found 32-year-old Jose Antonio Penna-Alvarado on Barney Street and stopped him. He only spoke Spanish and was apparently highly intoxicated. He had a 22 caliber rifle tethered to his pants with a string. A ballistic shield was used to take him into custody. While officers were there, someone reported he had fired the rifle off South Barney Street and Interstate 5, then reloaded it and kept walking.
