A man returned to Shasta County on warrants was released again soon afterward. Dana Eric Hawkins was arrested last August at an Anderson motel on charges of felony child abuse and Fentanyl possession. He was released on his own recognizance and then failed to appear in court three times, so a warrant was issued. Hawkins was arrested on the warrant last week in Humboldt County, and Anderson Police Officers drove there to pick him up. After bringing him back and booking him into Shasta County Jail, officers were dismayed to learn that he had been released on his own recognizance again within an hour of arriving.
