APD: Teen Car Thieves Arrested After Crashing Stolen Car On Bowman Road

A couple of junior car thieves were chased down by Anderson Police late Sunday night. Just before Midnight the theft was reported to Redding Police and about 20 minutes later an APD Officer spotted the car going south on Interstate 5 near Riverside Avenue. He followed it while waiting for other officers to catch up. When they entered Cottonwood the driver started speeding and running stop signs with officers close behind. The car then went south on Main Street into Tehama County and out Bowman Road. When he tried to turn onto Broadhurst he lost control and crashed the small car into a tree and a fence. The two occupants fled on foot. Tehama and Shasta County Deputies, as well as CHP ground and air units helped search for the two, who were eventually tracked by a K9 to a canal under the roadway. The 17-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger were booked into Juvenile Hall. They’re being investigated for multiple vehicle burglaries in Redding and Anderson.
