APD: Theft Suspects Report Fake Stabbing To Avoid Arrest

Anderson Police say some theft suspects tried to get the wiser of them during a traffic stop. At 2:15PM Sunday afternoon, Walmart loss prevention reported several people had walked out with a cart full of goods, loaded it into a Chevy HHR and drove off. Officers spotted the suspect vehicle getting onto Northbound I-5 and pulled it over on Balls Ferry Road. As officers spoke with the occupants, a 9-1-1 call was made reporting a stabbing at the Anderson Safeway. Several officers headed that way while one stayed with the HHR. It was discovered that there had been no stabbing, so each person in the car was asked for their phone number and one of them, Geraldine Walker, apparently matched the phone that made the 9-1-1 call. The driver, Nancy Perkins, had a suspended license so the car was towed and a search reportedly turned up the Walmart merchandise.
