It’s the toughest job they’ll ever love. The Youth Conservation Corps on the Shasta-McCloud Management Unit of the Shasta Trinity National Forest has sponsored the YCC for almost 50 years, and they’re now accepting applications for three Summer crews. Summer employment begins July 1st and runs through August 9th. It’s limited to the ages of 15 to 18. The program includes educational field trips and members will learn about forest and wildlife sustainability, but the majority of the time is spent working, sometimes very hard work like building trails and fences, but always very rewarding. Applications are available at local high school counseling offices. Enrollees will be chosen by a random drawing at a public meeting at the Mount Shasta District Office April 8th. Applications must be received no later than April 5th.
