Arrest Made After Second Alarm Fire At Apartment Complex

An arrest was made Wednesday in connection to a fire inside an East Redding apartment. Redding Fire Department was called just after 8AM to the Echo Manor Apartments just south of Enterprise High School. Heavy smoke and flames were coming from a second floor window, and crews called in a second alarm to bring all the city’s resources to the scene. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire, preventing it from spreading to any other units in the building. The value of the damage is estimated at $80,000 for the building and another $30,000 worth of contents. A fire investigator later arrested 43-year-old Joseph Edward Day on suspicion of intentionally starting the fire. The motive is not known.
