Audubon Society Needs One-Day Bird Counters

Avian enthusiasts will continue a 125 year tradition with the annual Christmas Season Bird Count for the Audubon Society. The count has taken place nationally since 1900, allowing the Audubon Society to keep a rough census of bird populations. Volunteers fan out over a specific 15 mile wide diameter circle and count every bird they can, identifying them with the help of knowledgeable birders and guide books. It’s done annually between December 14th and January 5th, with specific days designated for different regions. Beginners to experienced birders are welcome to participate. More information is on the Facebook page for Mt Shasta Area Audubon.
