August Unemployment Rate Was 5.7% In Shasta County

Shasta County’s unemployment rate is up a little from last year and down marginally from last month. The August jobless rate was 5.7%, which is down 2-tenths from July and up from 5.1% last August. Some small year-over losses have been seen in transportation, warehousing and utilities, as well as leisure and hospitality, while major gains have been seen in the government sector, especially education. Last month’s jobless rate in Tehama and Siskiyou Counties was 6.6%. It was 5.3% in Trinity County. The statewide rate was 5.9%, and it was 4.4% nationally.
