Authorities ID Suspect Who Was Shot By Deputies In Oak Run

More information is being released about an officer involved shooting in Oak Run on July 5th. The Shasta County Multi-Agency Officer Involved Critical Incident Response Team reports that the suspect, 33-year-old Christopher Maddox, has been released from the hospital and has been booked into jail on charges including attempted murder, assault with a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and numerous other related charges. The investigation has revealed that Maddox was driving towards Mineral School Road when he encountered the victims, a 51-year-old male, and a 46-year-old female taking out their trash. Maddox blocked their vehicle and threatened them with a rifle before they were able to drive away and contact law enforcement. Maddox proceeded to his residence where he crashed on the side of the road. He then confronted four other people including his mother, his great uncle, and his roommates girlfriend. He fired his rifle towards his roommate. A CHP Helicopter was able to see Maddox holding the victims hostage in front of the residence. He was warned and ordered to surrender, but he refused. He was shot by arriving deputies and taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
