Berkeley Man Arrested After Chase From Redding To Colusa County

A series of multiple burglaries at legal indoor cannabis cultivation operations in Redding have been linked to other crimes statewide following a very lengthy chase and eventual arrest this week. In the latest incident, police responded to Mountain Lakes Boulevard in North Redding at 4:23AM Tuesday for a burglary in progress at a commercial cultivator. Arriving RPD Officers saw three vehicles fleeing the scene and a chase began through Redding and onto Southbound Interstate 5. The CHP took over the pursuit, which continued south through multiple counties. In Colusa County a spike strip was used south of Willows to disable one of the getaway cars, but the other two got away. The driver, 27-year-old Aikeem Bernstine of Berkeley, reportedly tried to get away on foot but was captured. Police say the car he was driving contained more than 100 pounds of stolen cannabis, along with burglary tools, and that a total of $300,000 worth was taken from the cultivator. The car had also been stolen. Bernstine remains in Colusa County Jail on $600,000 bail.
