The Shasta County Sheriff’s Boating Safety Unit has released the Lake Shasta incident numbers from what was the busiest Memorial Day weekend they’ve seen in several years. 36 people were assisted in 24 vessels, 45 boating under the influence evaluations resulted in one arrest. Deputies issued 77 boating warnings and wrote 5 citations. There was one boating accident. The Sheriff’s Office says it’s the start of what they expect to be a very busy boating season, and they encourage people to learn to boat safely.
