The Shasta County Bomb Squad was called to Lake Shasta Wednesday morning. Just before 6am the explosive experts were called by the CHP to the Turntable Bay offramp from northbound Interstate 5, where a bomb had been found. Someone had apparently tried to detonate the device but they were unsuccessful. Turntable Bay Road was closed while the squad did their meticulous work. The threat was neutralized just before 9am. Anyone with information about the bomb’s origin is urged to call 245-6540.
