Bucking Tradition, Supervisors Select Crye To Be Next Chairman

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors have again abandoned what had been a tradition of succession for the choosing of a new Chairperson and Vice Chair. The board used to take turns but that ended after the recall of Leonard Moty and the rise of the majority led by Patrick Jones. That bloc had included Tim Garmin, but his voting record has sharply departed from previous expectation. His Vice Chairmanship means he was poised to ascend to the Chairman’s position, but Tuesday the board instead chose Kevin Crye to be Chairman next year. Chris Kelstrom was chosen as Vice Chair.
