Cal-Fire Plans Vegetation Management Projects In Shasta And Tehama Counties This Week

If weather permits, Cal-Fire will continue an ongoing vegetation management project around the Shasta County Landfill off Clear Creek Road in the Igo area. Starting Tuesday, crews will torch as much as 160 acres of non-native weeds and brush, along with dead and downed trees. The project is intended to improve grazing conditions for livestock and wildlife, and to make the landscape easier to defend in the case of a large wildfire

Cal-Fire is planning to do some burning in the Oak Run area late this week. The Dash Ranch Vegetation Management Project is on the south side of Oak Run road at the top of Carpenter Grade. Around 500 acres of non-native weeds and brush will be torched to improve grazing for livestock and wildlife, and to make the land more defensible against wildfires. As weather conditions allow, the project will take place this Thursday and Friday.

The Tehama-Glenn Unit of Cal-Fire will be burning alongside Highway 36 west of Red Bluff. Weather permitting, Tuesday and Wednesday night crews will burn 109 acres along Highway 36 west from Cannon Road to Oak Knoll Drive. The project will mostly be done between 5PM and 7AM. Smoke may affect the Reeds Creek and Dibble Creek areas.
