Cal-Trans Will Host Open House On South Redding Pedestrian Safety Project

An open house will be held by Cal-Trans to inform the public about a proposed safety project that would further restrict access between Highway 273 and Westside Road in South Redding. The closure project is still in the planning phase with a start date of 2027. The goal is to enhance pedestrian safety by eliminating access to Westside Road at the Breslauer Lane intersection. Access to Breslauer would remain in effect, but drivers on Westside Road would need to go north to Buenaventura or south to Kenyon to get onto the highway. While motorized vehicular access would be blocked, access by pedestrians and bicyclists will be maintained. The open house is Wednesday from 4PM to 6PM at Redding Fire Hall Number 3.
