Cal’s Books, a used bookstore in South Redding that’s reached nearly iconic status, will be closing forever due to flood damage. Apparently the torrential rains on Sunday sent two feet of water throughout the 3,000 square foot store off Westside Road. Cal’s Books has always amazed customers in its being meticulously organized, despite its massive collection of floor-to-ceiling books. When fans of the store heard about the disaster, a GoFundMe page raised almost $10,000 before the owner called it quits, saying it’s simply too far gone.
