CHP: Pregnant Woman Among The 5 Victims Of Saturday’s Fatal Crash On I-5 In Corning

The five people killed in a crash on Interstate Five at the south edge of Corning Saturday afternoon have been identified by the CHP. At 12:45PM Saturday afternoon, a 2003 Infiniti was northbound when it crossed the median and entered the southbound side, colliding head-on with a 2016 Dodge ram pickup towing a 5th wheel travel trailer. The driver of the pickup, 52-year-old retired San Jose Police Captain Randy Schriefer, was killed. The only survivor of the crash was his wife, 48-year-old Kelly Schriefer. She was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries. All four occupants of the Infiniti were from San Diego. They were all unrestrained and were ejected and killed. They included the driver, 46-year-old Shawn Chastain, 47-year-old Thomas Bruce, 36-year-old Patti Larsen, who was 8 months pregnant, and an 8-year-old girl.
