CHP Reports Only Minor Injuries In T-Bone Crash On Highway 44

A driver was lucky to have survived a broadside collision east of Palo Cedro Monday morning. A little before 9 O’clock the driver of a Corvette pulled away from the stopsign at Silverbridge Road directly into the path of a Ford Explorer that was approaching on Highway 44. The SUV T-boned the Corvette, which was mangled and on fire. The Corvette driver, an 83-year-old man, got out of the burning car and was lying on the roadside when emergency personnel arrived. The SUV ended up about 50 feet into a field with major damage and four flat tires. Both drivers were transported to a hospital with injuries the CHP described as minor.
