CHP: Speeding Driver Late For Work Arrested After Short Pursuit

Sometimes drivers have good reasons for exceeding the speed limit. A Redding Area CHP Officer says that wasn’t the case with the driver of a Ford Fusion Monday morning. At around 6AM, Officer Jason Morton was in a marked Highway Patrol cruiser on Southbound Interstate 5 at Oasis Road when the Ford passed him at over 90 miles an hour. Officer Morton switched on his lights and attempted a traffic stop but the Ford driver just started driving faster. After leading the officer on a chase for a few miles, the driver pulled over a little north of Bonnyview. He said he had been speeding because he was late for work. The driver was arrested and the Ford was impounded.
