An announcement by former Shasta County District Two Supervisor Tim Garman that he’s running next year for the District 5 seat held by Chris Kelstrom has prompted Kelstrom to announce that he’ll be running as well. Garman had been elected to the board in the recall of Leonard Moty in 2022. His campaign had been funded by the same faction that pushed for the recall and supported Kelstrom, Patrick Jones and Kevin Crye. Garman won’t be getting help from that source in the upcoming election after breaking with the board majority on many issues. During Garman’s term, the district lines shifted and placed his Happy Valley home in District 5, so he was ineligible to run in District 2.
