Two more members have announced their resignations from the Shasta County Citizens Election Advisory Commission. The panel is made up of 5 unpaid members of the community, each of them appointed by a different supervisor. They are unable to take actions but may make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. Recommendations have included measures that would violate state law, including hand tallying of county elections. Mary Rickert’s appointee, Susanne Baremore, has stepped down, saying she cannot be a part of the commission due to it’s repeated flouting of state law. Last month Tim Garmin’s appointee, Dawn Duckett, resigned for similar reasons as she called the commission a waste of county resources. The woman appointed by Patrick Jones has also apparently resigned. Bev Gray was embroiled in controversy last month after voicing a commercial that ran on KQMS asking for voters to report ballot inconsistencies to what turned out to be a private number. The ad was paid for by Jones. The commission had a meeting scheduled for Monday, but it didn’t happen.
