As expected, a long-term lease agreement was finalized Tuesday night for the Redding Rodeo Grounds. The City Council approved the final document after diligent reviews by city staff and the Rodeo Association. There was no major opposition to the lease, but the association had been eager to secure a renewal before the completion of the Riverfront Specific Plan. The new 25 year lease has 2 optional 10 year extensions. A number of costly renovations will have to be done by the Rodeo Association, including to the announcer booth, grandstands, and parking. The lease also includes an expanded use of the grounds for other community events.
