City Council To Consider Sending Comment Letter On Rancheria’s Plans To Move Win River Casino

The Redding City Council will consider during Tuesday’s meeting issuing a comment letter to the Bureau of Indian Affairs concerning the proposed Win Rver Casino and entertainment complex at the south end of Bechelli Lane. The 232 acre property is just outside city limits and was once owned by the city before being sold to Redding Rancheria. An environmental impact statement is currently under public review. The Bureau of Indian Affairs will have the final say, and would hold the land in trust for the tribe. The city has previously stated its opposition to the project, and even attempted to block access to the site with a secretive land deal. The letter being considered would cite issues with socioeconomic conditions, transportation, land use, public services and aesthetics.
