A collision involving a Diesel tanker truck closed Northbound Interstate 5 all day Tuesday and all night. It was raining hard at 8:40AM when a Honda sedan hydroplaned on the wet asphalt and spun out, striking the truck and the center divider. The female driver suffered major injuries. While trying to evade the car the truck driver lost control and the truck rolled over, coming to rest upside down. The rear tanker trailer, carrying 4500 Gallons of Diesel, split open and spilled much of its load. Cleanup was a complex process and the truck and trailer remained blocking the freeway for much of the night. The truck is gone but crews are still working on removing the dirt used to contain the diesel spill.
