“Code Red” Emergency Alert System Will Transition To “AlertShasta” Starting May 1st

The emergency public warning system for Shasta County called “Code Red” will no longer work a week from now. The abrupt transition to a system called “AlertShasta” is being done effective May 1st. Like the other system, AlertShasta will keep people informed about local disasters and other public emergencies, but it can also deliver vital non-emergency information. Alertshasta works in conjunction with the “Protect Genasys” residential zone system. Registration for AlertShasta can be done at shascom911.com.
