Containment Grows On The Hill Fire, Other Area Fires

A fire south of Willow Creek in the Mosquito Creek Drainage is burning in heavy timber in very steep terrain. The Hill Fire covers 7,111 acres with containment of 17%. Lines have mostly been holding. Evacuations are in effect as well as a number of road closures. There have been 5 injuries. It’s being fought by nearly 2,100 personnel.

The Shelly Fire in the Marble Mountains of Siskiyou County has not grown beyond it’s perimeter after burning 15,477 acres, now with 66% containment. Seven people have been injured. Evacuation orders and warnings have been reduced for many people. Nearly 1,500 personnel remain on scene.

The Ridge Fire on the Lake and Colusa County line is 70% contained after burning about 2,800 acres.

Several fires in Plumas County north of Highway 70 are being managed as the Gold Complex cover a total of more than 3,000 acres with 10% containment. Many evacuation orders are in effect.

A fire near Trinity Pines and Highway 36 in the Hayfork area has been contained at 6 acres.

Redding Fire Department responded Thursday night for a small fire in some homeless camps. The fire had apparently been intentionally set, possibly as a cooking fire, on the east side of the Sacramento River north of Highway 44. It spread to surrounding heavy vegetation until firefighters contained it to a 20 by 30 foot area.
