Convicted Pimp Ordered To Stand Trial For Alleged Rape Of Teen Girl

A Redding convicted pimp is being held to answer to additional charges involving a 15-year-old victim. Last August, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office took part in a nationwide multi-agency effort against sex trafficking involving the FBI and hundreds of local and state law enforcement agencies. The Sheriff’s Office, along with the DA’s Office and Redding and Anderson Police, used prostitution websites to solicit sex acts, and arranged for meetings at a local hotel. Several women showed up and they were detained and offered victim services before being released. One of the prostitutes identified her pimp as 28-year-old Anthony Augustus. He had been convicted for pimping. He also allegedly had raped an intoxicated 15-year-old girl and filmed the incident, then distributed it on his social media accounts. During a preliminary hearing, Augustus was ordered to stand trial. He’s still awaiting sentencing on the pimping charges as well.
