A woman was arrested by police in Corning Sunday afternoon after refusing to cooperate and allegedly being caught with drugs. Officers saw a car in the middle of Toomes Avenue near Viola Avenue with the passenger door open and a man standing next to it. As officers approached, the man walked away and the car drove off. It had expired registration so it was pulled over and the driver, Melinda Provence, had an expired drivers license. She was asked to step out of the car, but she refused and tried to grab her open purse. Officers say they could see drug paraphernalia the purse so they detained Provence and searched the purse, which allegedly contained nearly 30 Grams of Fentanyl.
