Corning Man Convicted For August 2020 Murder

A Corning man has been convicted of first degree murder by a Tehama County jury. On the evening of August 3rd, 2020, 52-year-old Arturo Eugene Bent the Third stumbled into Food Maxx in Red Bluff and collapsed. He had a gunshot wound to his upper chest which proved to be fatal. Red Bluff Police got an arrest warrant for 39-year-old Elfego Chavez-Acevedo. He eluded capture for four months and was finally captured after a long standoff in Corning. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
