Corning Man Who Attacked Students At Shasta College Remains Free After Violent Conviction

A Corning man with a history of violent crimes in Tehama County has been convicted for a violent attack on the campus of Shasta College. On November 23rd of last year 49-year-old Razi Wain Lovett and his sons were armed with an aluminum baseball bat and a knife when they raided the Shasta College dormitory and attacked students who were living there. A Shasta County jury found Lovett guilty last week of several felony assault counts and vandalism, as well as special allegations of posing a serious danger to society and showing a high degree of cruelty, viciousness or callousness. The offense qualifies as a violent strike against Lovett’s record. Despite objections from the prosecution, the judge allowed Lovett to remain out of custody until sentencing on September 12th.
