Redding has a new Mayor after Tuesday nights city council meeting. Tenessa Audette was named the Mayor, but not without some controversy after the council voted 3-1 to approve her as the new Mayor. Now former Mayor Michael Daqusito took issue with the councils approval of Audette as the council bypassed current Vice Mayor Mark Mezzano who he believed should have been next in line to become Mayor. The council bypassed the traditional changing of the guard, but Audette said that it was Daqusito who ignored tradition last year when the council skipped over Mark Mezzano and named him the mayor. Both Mark Mezzano and Tenessa Audette are running for same state assembly seat, and being named Mayor could be seen as an advantage for either candidate.
