The Redding City Council has voted to write a letter opposing the Shasta County Board of Supervisors decision to cancel the contract with Dominion Voting Machines, and instead have all elections counted by hand. According to estimates it will nearly quadruple the cost of elections for the city. Board Chair Patrick Jones, a former Redding City Mayor, spoke to the council and said the cost is incorrect based on the assumption that all counters will be paid. He thinks that they can be volunteer positions.
