The application process has opened for candidates seeking the position of Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters. The elected position is being appointed by the Board of Supervisors following the early retirement of the long-serving Cathy Darling-Allen due to health issues. The term runs through January of 2027. It’s a fairly technical and very specialized job, but the only official qualifications are that the person be at least 18-years-old, a California resident who’s registered to vote in Shasta County, and cannot be affiliated with an attorney or a collections agency. Applications can be found on the county website.
